Is the "Selfless" ending considered a win?

My oozemancer reached the Sanctum, and I killed both sorcerers, but Aeryn died in the process. So I had to sacrifice myself to close the portal. Is this still considered a "win" or do I need to save Aeryn too? Also, this was on Adventure mode (although I had no deaths!), would this have been a win on Roguelike?

Your character sheet says "WINNER!" in big blue letters.

What's the deal with sacrificing anyways? Sometimes I get a chance for that but sometimes I get a win not requiring a sacrifice to win.

If you don't reach the end of Charred Scar before the timer runs out, someone's gotta die.

That's not the case. I've done it successfully every time but one in which I had to convince Aeryn to help me. Way more often than that I've had to sacrifice Aeryn.

Yeek always sacrifice themselves at the end.
