Surviving orc patrols

Any tips for surviving orc patrols in the Far East? I just three lives on my ghoul reaver to them. Extremely frustrating.

Is it typical for patrols to be significantly more dangerous than the dungeons? This particular character didn't make it into the prides, but he had no major problems the dungeons before those. Smaller patrols aren't too much trouble, but it's far too easy to get massive numbers of spell casters (necromancers seem to be the worst) and a mage-hunters. The ghoul's speed penalty exacerbates all of this, since dodging patrols becomes much harder.

If you clear the breeding pits, fewer patrols spawn. Also, bear in mind you can use a movement infusion to sprint to the other side of the ambush zone and escape.

But, yeah, the orc patrols can be pretty brutal.

Friendly patrols around Gates of Morning. It's an option...
They help... Most of the times.

Movement speed malus from ghoul applies to the world map. I heartily recommend hoarding all +movement things you find for wearing on the world map so that they are not faster than you.

Invisibility Rune, controlled phased door, ghoulish leap, and/or Mobility infusion. Don't bother trying to kill patrols, just get to the exit. Then encounter will disappear.

This won't help Castler that much but I'm not the only non-ghoul reading this for help against those pesky orcs.

With my T(S)haloren Berserker I'm first using Tele/psychoport that'll always move me closer to exit than my starting position is (knock on wood) due to the size of the map and the 15 square minimum distance.
After that I'll activate my movement infusion and run to exit. In case I have bad effects on me I pop the relentless assault (my first time with this so I can only assume it's given to all chars) and few treants as meat shields. One turn later I should be good to go.

If you have LoS or LoE control and ranged attacks (especially reliable control like an ice wyrmic or a stone archmage or arcane blade) it may be safer to fight it out. Also for chronomancers since they have an instant cast no uncertainty teleport spell they can use to get behind a clump of trees but probably not to get to the exit.

Two or three orcs in LoS at a time isn't that much more dangerous than you see in dungeons and infusion rushing the exit might put you in range of a lot more than that.

Being ludicrously tanky can also work. I don't remember running into any trouble with anything except savegame corruption after level 25 as a maxed absorption antimagic mindslayer for example.

Simple - just play a solipsist, oozemaner, or powerful archer with rapid shot, and you beat them every time.

I've never died to an orc patrol, and I play mostly on roguelike.

if you can't beat them, you can't beat high peak.

People tend to face Orc Patrols long before they are ready to think about beating High Peak.
