I remember doing this in one of the betas and I need help again. I want to try my hand at cheating. I've worked out that I have to set up the text file and that I need the key shortcut, but I'm having a hard time binding it. Help?

It should just show up in the keybinding menu, is it not?

As a check to see if it is enabled, if you have cheat mode active, "reboot" should be an option on the main menu, and new characters should start out being named "player". If that isn't the case, something else is the problem.

I can't find it in the keybinding menu at all. I do have a message when I start up a new character that says "Character control switched to player" though. Don't have a Reboot option in the main menu, but the option at the bottom just says Exit Game instead of Save and Exit Game like it did before.

It sounds like one of the earlier steps is the problem.

Is the file in the right place? It should be in /t-engine/4.0/settings, along with the rest of your config files, like addons.cfg, audio.cfg, and particles_density.cfg.

Is the file correct? It should be cheat.cfg, it might have a hidden extension and actually be cheat.cfg.txt or something. (I duplicated/renamed and replaced the contents of another config file to avoid this)

Are the contents correct?should be the only line in the file.

Also, IIRC, it should say "online profile disabled due to cheat mode active, switching to offline" or something when you go to character creation.

Lukep, you're a genius. I had originally set it as a text file. Following your advice about duplicate/rename, I was able to get in.
