Okay, so I somehow managed to escape the Orc ambush and return to the main map, however I can't work out how to get to the other portions of the map...please help

Go enquire at the door in the centre of Last Hope.

This is a question that gets asked quite a lot on the chat; perhaps the quest that you get from Ambush! should point the players in the right direction. I know you get the message about going to Last Hope when you get the staff but that's easy to miss in all the excitement of killing the Master for the first time.

Personally, I was quite surprised at beating the Master at my second attempt (the Wyrmic Cornac I'm playing doesn't handle magical opponents too well,but was stronger than I anticipated), and I skipped through the well written Lore (-i'm only a few weeks into this fantastic game)...from reading this spoiler thread, I originally expected to exit Dreadfell and enter the East automatically, and then looked for a physical route that may have opened up...
