ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

So I read a bit about solipsists on the forums, and thought they looked cool.
I decided to see if I could get a character or two to level twenty and give them a try.

I'm now on my 8th character attempt to get a solipsist.
Out of those eight characters, only one, so far, has gotten "the ground is shaking" message.
That character died before going to the mission.

I really don't want to get that message again and then screw up my chance again- so if there's ANY complications in the Caldera mission, I'd like to know how to avoid them.

Seriously, though, I'd really like a definitive, clear explanation of how to unlock solipsists in the Caldera event; I've heard that some people have completed the area and then NOT unlocked the class.

If this happens I am going to cry.
