Extra talent category points?

Hey guys, I just started playing this game last week- gotta say, I'm pretty addicted to it. First tile-based roguelike I've played.


Anyway, I have a lvl 24 archmage going, and I'm realizing there's a lot more talent trees available to me than I thought there would be (I went into stone alchemy because I thought I'd be able to enchant more than just 1 piece of armor, but 10% redux or damage and a stone beam is kind of worth it).

So I got stone alchemy and spell/meta for metaflow, and I'm probably gonna get spell/ice once I unlock it. I noticed in the talent menu it says you can gain more category points through trainers/artifacts, so, I'm wondering how many extra points you can get in total?

Is there a trainer later on or a rare drop from a scripted boss that gives you an extra point? I'm wondering how many total extra points you can get so I can plan ahead. I'm not sure just 3 infusion slots is gonna cut it.

There are 4 in total, 5 if you're cornac. Currently, though I personally would like to see more. :D

To be more explicit (spoiler forum!), you get three cat points normally, an extra at start if you're Cornac, and the final one from drinking wyrm bile. Wyrm bile is a guaranteed drop from the sandworm lair backup guardian.

I'd love to see 1 or 2 more as well.. Maybe at level 40 and 50... :P Though this would definitely benefit certain classes more than others and would require a rethink of cornac most likely...

I think the number is fine. Actually giving the classes categories to invest in seems more important (see Reavers). Other classes could stand to have more unlocked trees starting out (see Arcane Blades).

I'm not positive on this one [and it's rather a coding oversight], but can't you also respec the talent+class point from Last Hope's graveyard too?

The graveyard talents, as well as escort gifted ones, won't be unspeccable come next beta. It's already been fixed in svn for a while now.

They can be in b34, though, yes. It wasn't intended.

I also think 4 category points is enough. With infusion/runes maximum at 5 player have minimum 2 optional trees to unlock. Player usually don't have talent points for more anyway. I would prefer more talent points instead...
