Undeads in Dreadfall

Hello.
I remember first time I came to Dreadfall.
I called my fried who also playes on phone, that now is the time I go in there.
I called him back 1 min later as I died (was stunned) after 5 turns.
Anyway, I learned the lesson of old stunns and next time I had more protection, and nowadays it is not as deadly anyway.
Never the less, I was happy that I would now find some of theese ingrediences.
Vampire Lord, Wight, etc etc
I thought of a long and dangerous fight, me fighting for my life and for those body parts.
Then I met my first Vampire.
Would he drain my xp? What nasty things does he have up his sleeve?
The questions where many as I approached him.
*Poff Poff* and dead he was.
WTF??
What a shock!
Vampire Lords in vaults and they are
complete push overs!
Why is that so?
Emperor Wights, Vampire Lords etc etc should be pretty dangerous for a 20+ character IMO.
Not this crap.
But of course, I know that different monsters are not equally dangerous for different characters.
But a wimpy hobbit rogue should have difficulties meeting a Vampire Lord the first time.
Not to mention if the Vampire Lord is 2 times as experienced.....

Emperor wights can be nasty. But yeah, vampires don't scare me much, unless they're generated with a strong rune.

Guess I have been lucky then, because I did Flurry several of theese and they just die.

Then I would suggest that you have a rather strong Rogue :)

Hmmm.
Elder Vampires, Emperor Wights, Vampire Lords...
My rogue just laughs and kills them.
Never ever have they been a threat.
So maybe it's because for a reason a rogue do not have any problems with them.
When I reach Dreadfall I'm always around lvl 20-21.
The current game I refused the call from a lady.

I was coming from the hobbit cave (Mr Z) when I got the task.
I hated it, but I knew that if I try again, Ill die.
Lvl 21 is much to low for that place.
Those elves are WAY WAY WAY harder than the Undeads in Dreadfall.
At least for a rogue.

Slightly OT, but how did you get your rogue that far into the game? I seem to run into a "Dead End" (literally) if I try Daikara or Tempest Peak, simply because of low stun resist. RNG was... brutal to my last rogue, especially for Daikara. Two pieces of stun resist gear for a grand total of 42% stun resist, 20% knockback resist, and very little of anything else. Using storebought gloves and cloak (a regal linen cloak of resilience, yay) cuz there wasn't anything else. Daikara 1, first room was a room full of snow giants, which got complicated when an umber hulk joined the party, revealing a second room of frost giants, and some harky fragments too.

Hmm. Up to and passed Daikara is never a problem (unless you activate the dragon and the purple Xorns if they are om same lvl).
If I fail I made a stupid mistake.
I use Double Strike and Flurry as my main killing devices.
When I reach Daikara I have 5 in Snap.
The current game I killed the Daikara dragon in 5 moves. Didnt go below 400hp.
I saw him coming around a corner, hit Little Folk and Regeneration Infusion.
Then as he stepped in range:
* Double Strike.(5/5)
* Flurry (5/5)
* Snap (5/5)
* DoubleStrike
* Flurry
------------:
Dead dragon in 5 moves
Order of the game.
Troll Mire (Save one troll)
Shade (Save one skeleton mage) This is a dangerous boss. Use detection wand if you have one to clean away everything possible around Shade.
Two start caves NE of Derth
OldForest (Save one honeytree, save one Black mamba) I stop at OF5.(Teleport in emergency)
AssassinLord (Often at least one very good dagger drops)
Maze (Phase Door or teleport in emergency)
Sandworm
Two Elf startcaves SW of Derth (but I never kill the red crystals)
Derth
Home below OldForest (use Vision Infusion and airpockets if no Depth cap)
Peek (beware of the lightning special that last for several rounds)
Daikara
Hobbit Ruins
Dreadfall
Infusions
Regenerate
Regenerate/Heal
Movement
Teleport
At lvl 20 I take Combat Veteran
Order of Class:
Dual Weapon Training 1-5
Precision at xplvl 8 asap. (Make sure you have the stats)
Dual strike 6-10
Flurry 11-15
Snap 16-
Stealth 16-
Unseen Action 25-
What I do not have after Dreadfall that I miss is:
Momentum
Maybe more high damage combat specials.
Order of Generic:
accuracy 1, 3
knife mastery 2, 4-13
health (must use armour/rings/hero infusion) up to 5 asap.
Militant Mind to 5
Duck Dodge
If I never get the thief task I must take Hightened Senses (2 generic)
ImporantTasks:
Warrior ->Extra accuracy
Thief-> Hightened Senses(Important)->trap destruction->trap detection
Providence (VERY useful talent given from a spellcaster I always forget who)
alchemist->Imbue armour (Useful?? I never used this skill in game. Is it worth the effort? The yellow gem is always dying with me. No idea how to imbue a weapon)
I have NO idea if this is the right way to raise a rogue, but thats the way I do it.
At the moment Im stuck in a boss less farportal.
Guess Im stuck.

Ah heh. Was focusing on stealth and poisons before all that. derp. Imbue armor is nice for rogues if and only if you get 4-5 alchies to escort, and choose the imbue reward for each (otherwise, just one alchie and you can choose to spend 5 generic points to up it, and up your magic to be able to take those generic). You'd only be imbuing one or two things per level, but that isn't much of a problem. You need a suit armor in your inventory and a gem to imbue it with. If you managed to get all 5 points in imbue item, you could imbue drakeskin leather armor with a pearl for +10% resist all, or a diamond for +5 all stats, etc. As a rogue, it's probably better to just choose the dex reward from alchies.

Hmm, I always choose Imbue Item, since even at level 1 I can add +1 to all stats to my armour, which I find better than +2 DEX.

Hm, imbue item skill level only considers gem quality, and not armor quality? Heh. Another derp moment for me.

He he. This sounds fine.
Until you imbue your favourite armour and after that get a second point in Imbue Armour.

hm, it seems dungeons are somehow adjusted to your level, i mean monster levels and monster set. i was in dreadfell only once (i am new in this game), yesterday with a lvl 16 archmage and i had had no problems (flame + lighting + manathrust) before was killed on the last level by bad luck. i was in the middle of a long hallway and met a skeleton archer, i could have easily killed it if i had seen it but it was it who saw my void star. i didn't notice immediately that i was shot so i fled from that hallway with every rune, infusion and healing spell on cooldowns and low hp just to meet the boss and an orc pyromancer guarding upstairs, teleported with ~17hp and was killed by a lesser vampire ><
i wonder if there is a way to see without lanterns. infravision, huh...

16 is awfully small for dreadfell... you should probably explore more of Maj'Eyal before trying that again. Most nearly everything scales to your present level, if you're doing it at or near the expected level for the area. There are many magical light sources out there, but with infravision, keep in mind that walls don't give off heat. Void Star is used by archmages mostly for its damage increase; if you can find a magical lightsource which extends the visible area to 5 or 6 you should definitely use that, and rely on other gear to boost your damage. Otherwise, it's Infusion: Sun or Illuminate. With stun changing to reduce damage, Illuminate is useful because it can blind spellcasters, making them cast their spells in random directions.

but if it scales to my level why is lvl 16 too low? isn't it near the expected level for dreadfell? also i killed subject z with that char being level 10 or 11 (failed to save wayist though which was the main purpose for creating that character)
i hardly survived when i tried to visit spellblaze though nearly killed by the first blood mage i met :3

oh, thank you. 5 or 6 definitely isn't enough though. also i guess shielding, mana surge, wild and regeneration are more important than sun infusion, maybe wands... i need to try.
