ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

So i was working on the portal quest, and got the portal from east back to west created... then i went to last hope and talked to the elder, then the tower dude. Tower dude asked me if he could look at the orb, and I said yes.

Now im stuck in the west, no orb to get to the east to continue with main quests, and i see nothing to do in Reknor to net me the materials for the portal. Talking to people in lost.. err last hope nets me nothing.

Am i missing something, or did i just give away my seat on the bus?

You should have found something at the site of the old portal in Reknor.

Ive already dug out much of the area around the portal, found one hidden room that had a handful of squishy orcs, and nothing else. I have noticed some places where not wearing my cloak of deception seemed to goof up other non essential quests by creating aggressive scenarios - is it possible that this is another situation like that?

I've also run around levels 1-3, and not seen him there either. Maybe its a random load?

Definitely not random. Could be bugged. There's a new beta in the works which should be out "soon".

There's still lots you can do in Maj'Eyal. You can revisit all the dungeons there and find new bosses to fight, but without the drop from that boss demon you can't complete the game.

Hum. If you're willing to use debug mode, you cheat teleport over to the east, nowadays. Have to scroll the map a bit, but it's over there.

A better cheat would be to go to level four and use summon creature cheat to summon the boss and kill him for the stuff.

I'm having the same problem, and a possible cause may be that the first time I travelled to the east, my game crashed. I had saved soon before, and upon restart, I was in the east already. The net effect of this is that the "The wild wild east" quest is still active. Maybe this is causing the problem?
