Why did I fail the jeweler quest

Hi,
I was doing the lost knowledge/moonstone/jewler quest.
I assume the idea is you have to keep him alaive for the entire counter right? (did it once before - and remember being a bit confused).
It said I failed the quest, but the log has no mention of him dying. I tried to keep the fight up in that corder, and was detecting now and again (usually evry time I saw a teleport) to see if anyonbe snuck by.
Did I miss a trick here, or was he just killed without it being logged?

Extract from stdout, from when he was summonned to after I failed.

The boss for that quest is totally invisible. You can miss him completely if you're not ubercareful. And he may kill Limmir...

Would that show up in stdout.txt? Or does only stuff related to things I'm aware of get logged?

You should at least get the message that you failed the quest in stdout.txt, so check what happened just before, it should give the reason of Limmir's death.

Theres one invisible monster that goes from behind.
Corrupted Daemahl or something similiar (stronger version of these demons who tend to use strange red area spell)
Comes when you have less than 100 turns left i think.
