That must be how a mob feels when a rogue or shadowblade shouts, 'FLURRYFLURRYFLURRY!!!'.

Wow, I'm glad I let the Yeek go. :)

I have killed Subject Z, but Yeek seems run away or disappear. Now what? I can't enter long tunnel. Have I failed quest somehow? Shoudn't have attacked Yeek?

I killed the boss easily, with the yeek surviving, but with a halfing alchemist...

My second character into the ruins -- a level 12 Archmage -- was able to kill Z without letting the Yeek die. I talked to the Yeek, and unlocked the race.

I've been led to believe that the tunnel entrance you see is never going to be usable by any non-Yeek beings, but that might be an incorrect guess.

I'm trying to save the Wayist a second time(as a yeek..there is ANOTHER unlock). And yeah, it's hard to keep the Wayist alive, but I'm getting close, trying different classes/strategies.

As for the tunnels - I can confirm only yeeks can use them.
