Who or what killed the Master ???

I was at the ladder, fighting crowd of undead. Suddenly in other room Master died. Could a trap have been so strong? I suspect some internal job: After I time-prisoned Dreadmaster he left. Soon after that Master died. As I come to take possession of Master inheritance Dreadmaster was in neighboring room and actually ventured into room the with Master staff at once. Why would Dreadmaster kill the Master unclear, but he definitely remain strongest monster in Dreadfell. I didn't even tried to fight him, took stuff and run.
