Halfway point in the game?

I've made it to Tol Falus twice, but not to the master yet. I'm wondering, is that dungeon halfway through the game? If not, is it before or after the halfway mark? This is assuming you play the dungeons in the order they are given you. I don't want a list of every single dungeon, just a general hint. I'm hoping it's not more than halfway through, just because I can't wait to see what else there is.

There's really not an official halfway point but if there was that would probably be it.

I would say it is a dungeon shy of being the halfway point myself.

Tol Falus

Well, for me the Master is still the early game... I usually kill him at level 12-14 or so with my mages, and I find a single naga myrmidon being more trouble some than this pathetic wuss

This reminds me to ask for more dungeons in the West. Northern and southern parts are currently not used, so maybe a dungeon in the icy lands and one in the desert.

Carn Dum isn't chilly enough for you?
While the Sandworm Lair certainly has plenty of sand, I agree that a desert themed one would be fun. Maybe an open plains one north of Mordor focusing on the ruins of Rhun. Also, there's always Erebor and dragons.

Carn Dum isn't a real threat once you are enough leveled. A "real" chilly dungeon, in the Helcaraxe, should be fun...

Damn, Helcaraxe would be awesome, with grinding ice all around you capable of doing immense damage on any turn.
Maybe a southern dungeon with some Oliphaunts?

Carn Dum isn't a real threat? Seriously? Unless you're doing it at level 20 I have trouble seeing it. Lots of big, strong monsters with damage shields, ranged confuse, and many with various ranged attacks. I've found it to be worth taking seriously for anyone who isn't ready for the Master.

Since this is the spoiler forum... Carn Dum isn't too hard as an Archmage with 4/5 Phase Door, Sense, and some upgraded form of Vision. All you really need to do is stay away from the ridiculous deathtrap groups of boulder throwers, thunderers, and cold drakes galore and don't let them see you. Also make sure you stay away from umber hulks that might melt a LOS for those nasty death groups. Yes, it's kinda cheesy to bounce around whenever possible, but then it's harder still to deal with those ridiculously nasty groups, especially if there are umber hulks or xorns/xarens with them too.

Or you can wait til you're a higher level and blast through everything in sight.

There's effectively two games, the West and then the East, so "Old Forest no longer any sort of challenge" is perhaps a halfway point of the first - that said, one of my elves ran headfirst into a naga while gathering some stuff and 'having no challenge' in the OF, and she just about had time to pick up a puzzle book for her trip to the halls.

Pretty much sums up the game

. I'm currently checking out archmages for the breeman challenge and found them the easiest class hands down - not quite to my surprise.

Why would you say they are easiest? Beucase of invis & prob travel ?

I haven't even been there yet, because I've restarted a few times for probably petty reasons

(escort dying on me because he managed to somehow tunnel past me in a corridor, realizing i spent more than the necessary 4 points on PD and sense etc.)
The thing is, that due to PD effectively resetting encounters mana management isn't an issue and since nothing needs reaching you (unless enforced by stupid escorts) the danger to life is minimal so far. (I suppose the restrictions FM wanted to impose on resting may also have been motivated by playing an archmage (?) )
With unresistable arcane damage there is always a completely reliable weapon (beam no less) for any thread the game might throw at you.
And yes, invis and prob travel will take it all a step further.
