ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Channel staff says it does 119% staff damage in the ranged attack. Staff mastery raises staff damage, but the range says melee/personal. Will putting points in staff mastery increase my channel staff attack, will it only help with melee attacks with my staff?

Ah yes I can understadn the confusiobn, but fear not it improves all staff damage
