Character level and game progression

Can anyone give me general benchmarks of what character level you are certain points of the game? I think maybe I'm rushing through things too fast. For the record, I think the highest level character I've had is 18. The furthest I've made it was the elven ruins, and that was after doing the first 6 dungeons. I tend to end trollshaws either level 4 or 5. I seem to make 10 in the old forest or maze. Does this seem about average? Also, is there a limit cap on characters?

This seens pretty much average to me. I usually was ~lvl20 when I finished Tol'Falas.

I believe level 50 is the highest you can achieve right now.

My average is 5 after Trollshaws, 10 after Amon Sul, 15 after Old Forest, almost 20 after Maze (but I never power dive through dungeons and like to explore any single square and kill any single enemy even on my way back).
After that, I die.

When playing a non-skeleton, I'm usually 6-8 after Trollshaws (depending on whether I got and survived the Merchant quest; I clear Trollshaws 1 then go to Bree to know the basic scrolls/potions). Then about 10 after Amon Sul, and about 19-22 after clearing all the 4 intermediate dungeons. The order I pursue them is determined by my class.

It all depends on the character I play. My rogues are usually very weak early while my archmages can plow through the west. While in the east my archmages do ok, but my rogues start taking over in power and ability.
