ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Is there any way to modify them? i.e. bind a spell to them or anything? And, no wands? I didn't really miss them to tell the truth, but now playing an archmage, feels odd.

Also, are the gems really worth anything yet? Weren't they supposed to do something for magic users?

From other things dg has said, I expect alchemists to pop up soon and I think they will do these things.

There are no rods or wands at the moment.

And no binding either. If you think it is a good idea to have rods and wands and binding start a discussion in Ideas.
