Yeah it's an interesting dungeon, and like every new one I find I die the first time I saw it. Since this is a spoiler page, before you go try to get some cold resistance and buy some (greater?) healing potions. Lots of stuff in there hits HARD from a distance. There's also (at least) one kind of attack you haven't seen before....

I was also amazingly unlucky the first time I played Trollshaws in beta4. The first level had a huorn (at character level 1!) which I barely survived, then when I came back from Bree there was an anaconda on top level and on second level I died to a mountain troll thunderer. Fortunately it seems like that was a really awful series of dice rolls!

Has anyone else notice that item destruction is either nerfed or broken in beta4? I usually end up carrying a bunch of potions and scrolls and so far have not lost even one to a fire or acid trap.... (I don't know if this is a bug or if it was just severely nerfed from earlier betas.)

Severyely nerfed item destruction, it is now based on damage done

I'm glad to hear it. Otherwise I'd have to watch out for others on here if you had said "Oops, fixed it"

I'm so glad it's been changed. I just lost six different items to an acid trap that dealt 6 damage...

Dunno why acid traps destroy potions. Fire for scroll makes sense, but I'd've thought frost traps shattering potions would be better.

Lightning would destroy wands maybe if you go there.

Ditto on that. Cold, fire, and maybe lightning are much more reasonable potion destroyers than acid. It takes a damned strong (not concentrated, but strong) acid to corrode glass. That's why they're often used to hold acids in labs, you see. :P

You are assuming that potions are contained in glass? What happens if they are not?

Also what type of stopper do you use for your potion? It might be susceptible to Acid.

How do you carry your potions round? Maybe the acid makes a hole in your pack and the potion drops out...

So why not acid?

Well, if your pack was ruined, there should be troubles carrying things in the future. I think we should conclude that somehow it's the potion or the bottle itself that was destroyed.
(Not that I'm really bugged by acid destroying things occasionally. Makes more sense for scrolls than potions, but now that the trap-destruction thing was nerfed, the balance seems about right to me re item destruction.
