ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Currently since Harkor'Zun is a Unique demon, you only have a 50% chance to get his unique demon seed with Demonologist. Other demons are bosses(well the ones I've come across so far, Corrupted Daelach might be the same issue though since it's a generic demon). Seems a bit unfair not to get the seed half the time. Alternatively it could stay unique if it had a way to guarantee demon seeds regardless.

Edit: Add Walrog to the list.

if harkor'zun was promoted to boss, then this wouldn't be a problem
it makes sense anyway; his fragments are unique, so the combined whole should be a boss

Shash is a boss though, you're guaranteed her demon seed as a result. Corrupted Daelach, Walrog and Harkor'Zun I think are the only 3 unique demons that aren't boss tier so they're 50% chance to get their seeds(and Corrupted Daelach and Harkor'Zun aren't even guaranteed to spawn at all I think).

What about the one from Mendila's in DC?

That one's a boss so it always drops. It's pretty good too, although getting there is another story.

Just try to do DC every time you play. Now I do it consistently and only fail it with something complicated like Ogre.
