Resist reduction effect modification

In the current state, resist reduction effects are not reliable to use over penetration (and using both, them and penetration gives no benefit over just penetration).

This stems from resist reduction applying to the individual components of resistances (all resist or single resist) as opposed to the end, true result that penetration affects. If the target sits at 70% all resist (not that uncommon on insane+ later on) and you throw a debuff that reduces physical resistance by 50%, the "true" physical resistance after it would be 55% as opposed to having 50% physical penetration, which would end at 35% "true" physical resistance.

Same happens if you throw all resist reduction on a target with high single resist (certain enemy basetypes like drakes and stuff). It barely benefits you or in the case of 100% single res, not at all.

How unviable would it be to change resist reduction to apply to the "true" resist (all resist * single resist) like penetration does?
