so, new class, pretty neat, unique mechanics

slight issue

can't use a number of skills that certain enemies have

so here's an idea i'm throwing out: a tree for possessors, that allow them to substitute mindstars for various equipment and stuff

skill one: psudoshield
when possessing a body, will allow you to substitute an offhand mindstar for a shield for the purpose of skills, with the tier of mindstar becoming a basic shield of similar tier (so rare and unique skills don't apply). one point turns your star into a buckler, three points into a metal shield, 5 points becomes a tower

skill two: persudolauncher
allows you to substitute your mindstar for ranged attacks with tier equivalency. one point will let your star act as a sling, three will let you use two mindstars as a bow

...aaand there's where i kind of lost steam. but as you can see the entire point is to allow you to use the skills of all your bodies, not just melee and mind.

how does that sound?

It looks rather like a point sink. IMO there could simply be a default mechanism which allows possessing to also copy enemy's weapon, and such weapon will only be used for using the talent of the assumed forms

Possessor doesnt get shield mastery anyway so there's no real reason to use shield skills with it

the point of the skills isn't to have access to a shield or a bow, but so that you can actually USE most of the skills that a number of bodies have, like shield pummel or shoot

the skills aren't for the possessor itself, but for the bodies it uses

The problem is, if you want to utilize to the full of the ranged-attacker forms, you would want to invest 5 points in a particular talent, and same for shield-and-1H, or other weapon combinations. So apart from the Possession tree, you would also need to invest in this tree to achieve the basic functionality of possessing, which is to use enemies' talents. I think this could be built into the existing possessing mechanism to do away with the tedious investments, or at least merged into one single talent, and have the corresponding weapon mastery level adjusted according to enemies' talent level

But to digress a little bit, I think having the mindstars morphed into different weapons for the possessor itself is a cool concept.
