Resistance Penetration and Self Damage

Currently the spell penetration mechanic works on every target equally, so if you get caught in the blast of your own spells (or procs) and you have a large amount of this, you can do quite impressive damage to yourself. most usually though re positioning effects putting you in your own line of fire or for example the black rings procs.
I would like to see actors exempted from the resistance penetration of their own abilities.

It's the only thing holding back ice mages from working, right?

Well they're still archmages or necromancers, and you can't make those classes do actually good damage anyway

It would also finally allow me to play with the black ring on an anorithil and not instagib myself with the inevitable combo procs of death
