Allow selecting of Fears like Poisons

Investing in the Fears category past the first talent is actually really bad since the best fears are earlier in the category. The good fears are Paranoia (first talent), Despair (first talent), and Terrified (second talent) and the other three are useless making it so you don't want to go past 5/0/0/0 or maybe 5/5/0/0 if you don't mind the 25% chance to get a bad fear in exchange for extra fears.

Poisons let you pick two to sustain and randomly apply from the two that are selected. Fears should work the same way but without a limit of how many fears you could pick since it picks one at random for each application. If you have 0 or 1 sustained/selected, it would pick randomly among all or all the remaining ones so you can't just pick one and have it always apply.

just saying. poison is a physical thing.

"fear" is... like sharing your insanity? not exactly a well considered action.
through maybe some change could be nice.

Yeah but your insanity shouldn't get weaker when you invest in it haha. It'd be like if 2/5 Vile Poisons gave you Crippling and Numbing (the good ones) but when you 5/5 it the pool gets diluted by bad ones like Deadly, Insidious, and Stoning. Currently the category is very weak considering it's locked so it could really use this buff.

that's why i added "through maybe some change could be nice.", but i don't think this one.

It is certainly odd, that putting more points make talent weaker (at least according to what you are saying, i have no experience with that), but i think perhaps a different approach could be viable.

while game doesn;t have to be 100% realistic, at least you could try to keep a theme.

Poison being physical is a bit debatable. I am no master poisoner in real life, but I have never seen a poison that when applied allows me to heal myself while it does damage to who/what I applied it to. (Leeching poison). Pretty sure that would be in the realm of the supernatural (something beyond normal physics).

All of the fears share SOME use. The newer ones aren't inherently bad. But iirc, applying them is checked for each, is it not? Meaning a greater chance of SOME fear being applied. And that in turn gives you more fears as they spread x turns later. I don't think being limited to just 2 would be good, offhand.

Biggest problem is so many big nasty strong things being resistant or outright immune, and saves making them so bad on higher difficulties. (which is why you play on normal, where the game was originally designed.)

??? You can very easily get the mindpower to beat saves on insane if you know what you're doing. Obviously this isn't optimal for cursed but it isn't on normal either.
