Visual Indicator for Named Monsters

Most of the time, what leads to one of my character's deaths is running headlong into a named monster, thinking it's a normal monster of it's type. Unless I've missed it, there's no way to determine if a monster is named or normal without mousing over them as soon as they come in range. I've played this way and while it's much safer, it really slows down gameplay (because I move and fight almost entirely with the keyboard).

I'd like to see a visual marker that indicates "This guy is tough!".

Thanks.

i do believe they have a different colour overlay.

and if they are bosses or rand bosses, or a unique, their overlay will also have a different frame.
at least on the default settings.

also, (while not guaranteed) there is a good chance they will have extra effect turned on, that their type is not supposed to have.
like a mice with winds of fire, or an imp with a corona. or a fox with gloomies. (except in the heart, there foxes always have gloomies)

They do have a colored border, purple to be exact, for rares. If they're above rares they will have an ornate purple border that is thicker and easier to see, kinda like what bosses have.

They do not always have a border. It is something that can be changed in the UI.
The best way to have it is to strike 'T' (capital T) until the tactical borders are displayed. Without them there is no way to know is a monster is normal or above (rare, randboss, etc).

It should be on by default, but it's possible to change it, yes.

You just changed, and likely saved, my life. I had no idea what this option did, so way back when I turned on 'health bars' and that's all I didn't know what the coloured borders indicated.

Make sure to unbind that if there's such a key combination to avoid problems in the future :)
