I am currently on a fibre optic network, downloads at about 230 Mb/second, according to speedtest.net. Yet, the executable is taking 20 minutes to download. And pages on te4.org load rather slowly.

Is there a problem with the server speed at te4 end?

The game shouldn't take that long to load regardless on server speed.

so what would be the cause then? it takes ages on my home computer as well, which is more like 5 Mb/sec

File fragmentation, antivirus being silly, not enough ram, multicore screw up, shader issues, firewall problem, dream seeds in the hardware.
Its hard to say really.
Post some of your te4_log.txt and the other log file which logs the webpage stuff (which I can't remember the name of).

I'm pretty sure their issue is with getting the game in the first place not with running the game. And I can report that te4.org websites have intermittent loading issues for me as well. Sometimes te4.org or wiki pages will timeout and not load at all, other times they load very slowly. Sometimes everything is just fine. I assume its a server load issue or the like.

yes, it is with getting the game. I've tried various computers with high speed downloads and it always downloads slowly. So perhaps the server needs adjusting?

Let's blame all those people download beta files.
