Make teleport failure instant

A lot of times when I teleport away it's because I'm gonna die if I stay any longer.
Do this in a no-teleport area and it's curtains for me.

Could teleport cancellation be made so that no turn is wasted.
Failing that, a message that appears whenever you enter a no-teleport area would be just as useful.

At least that way, there's no "surprise! You're dead now!" situation.

Where exactly did this happen?

I don't know of any no teleport areas that cover the entire level, with the exception of the fortress. If I'm not mistaken, besides that it's only vaults, and vaults can't be teleported into, but they can be teleported out of, which means using teleport shouldn't fail because the range is quite high.

Teleport will fail in the ambush due to the 15 tile minimum range if you aren't on the far edge of the level.

It happened in the shertul fortress during an alchemist run.

When I got to the farportal room, there were three luminous horrors and I got bone grabbed by them so I used invoke gome and tried to escape by using gem portal. It didn't work and I got lazer'd to death.

Had no idea that you weren't allowed to teleport in the shertul fortress.

Horrible thing to happen in roguelike mode
