i would like to see throwing weapons

such as knives, darts, rocks, something to fill ammo slot for chars that aren't archers. guess it should probably take an extra long time to throw, cause most chars will have both hands full. what do you all think?

Might be a bit useless, ultimately.
For most melee classes, a Rush or movement infusion is enough to close a good deal of space.

Would be awesome for Rogues. And I believe it was suggested several times already.
I think it could be balanced by having low quiver size, like 3 for knives, 1 for javelins, etc.

I'd personally be in favor of this; I hate having to sink points (often a category point in addition to one or more talent points) for an ability like Rush with a ludicrously long cooldown, or likewise with a category point for a movement infusion. Thrown weapons should be weaker than standard ranged combat without specialization. Adding them in opens up the possibility of specializing in, say, throwing knives, which I personally think are badass in games where they make an appearance. This gives weapon/attack-based builds more options, something spellcasters tend to have a plethora of.

There was a pretty cool addon proposal (not by me) that would have made good use of throwing knives.
For vanilla, it could be useful. I think it'd be a useful addition to have, either way.

Okay, but what would they do that isn't already accomplished by keeping a ranged weapon in your alternate set?

They could have minimal stat requirements, unlike bows and slings. A melee warrior-type doesn't have spare stat points to put into dex and cun for when they need a ranged weapon.

It's a cool idea, problem is that for anything to be even remotely effective late game, you reall need skill trees backing it up and specific investment, you could have a locked class cat for them and give it to melee classes, but like someone said, you might as well get a movement infusion, wuo'll be better in melee range anyway.

Depending on how we want to do this, ranged weapons could be tailored to a stat that the recommended class should have an abundance of. Perhaps throwing hammers or javelins for a Berserker or Bulwark, that unlock with strength?
Throwing knives could scale with Dexterity, a blowgun, or even throwing darts with Cunning...
There's possibility, I think. But we don't want to make it the solution for every character suffering from ranged-combat issues.

As nice as it would be to have a thrown weapon specialization/talent tree/category, the main reason I'd like it is so that I don't have to waste a category point and/or talent points on Rush. It's not a bad attack,but I'd like to have a ranged option open for melee. Throwing hammers and javelins dovetail nicely with the physical prowess of a Bulwark or Berserker; they'd be great for those master skeleton archers, the ones that run around flailing their bows and bones everywhere

Boomerangs, incidentally, would be awesome too. A throwing weapon that hits enemies.
