also you can remove the point in the skill, or simply disable auto-assigning starting skill in the options

Since more than a few us didn't realize this would it maybe make sense to put the sling and bullets in the inventory to start instead of the alternate weapons slot?

In all fairness... Weapon swapping is used in the tutorial. That virtually nobody seems to remember. It has a lot of the basics, though.
