Currently, game checks time spent playing (for purpose of the 'time playing' statistic on your profile page on te4.org) by checking your local systems clock. To prevent tinkering, can we get this to check a clock on the server somewhere?
Added benefit, if we could tie this into this idea that would be equally fantastic.
(And if someone can reduce the time on my 'time played' clock by about 12 years, that'd be nice too, if it doesn't wipe my account/records etc.)
Server Based clock for profiles.

Server side clock would also prevent funny stuff if you happen to have shifting timezones (summer/winter time) or something.

Or PC clocks that don't remember where they were set, so auto-set themselves after booting. (Thus inflating your time played by 12 years...)

Stop trying to cover up your time travel shenanigans. Nobody believes you.Crim, The Red Thunder wrote:Or PC clocks that don't remember where they were set, so auto-set themselves after booting. (Thus inflating your time played by 12 years...)

Yeah, obviously this is what happens when you hit ">" while standing on a temporal rift. Although... *peers at you closely* ... maybe you are strong enough to help rethread the timeline...

Oh yeah. I used such a computer once (luckily, not to play ToME). The clock reset itself every boot.Crim, The Red Thunder wrote:Or PC clocks that don't remember where they were set, so auto-set themselves after booting. (Thus inflating your time played by 12 years...)

Not as much a feature as drained BIOS battery on motherboard methinks.Crim, The Red Thunder wrote:Or PC clocks that don't remember where they were set, so auto-set themselves after booting. (Thus inflating your time played by 12 years...)
