Remove the barking dog sound from town

The barking dog is very irritating, causing me to mute the town music, and I usually have a good tolerance level for these sorts of things. The music in town is great, untarnish it :-)

Yeah, I agree. While we're on the subject, is it just me or is the music in Last Hope WAY TOO LOUD!?

I've heard a surprising amount of complaints about this one sound effect-and nothing much else in the game, for sound effects.

So yeah, probably should go. It kinda grates on me, too, to be honest.

Also the animal sounds in the Yeek starting village are infuriating, to the point where I ALWAYS leave town before even setting level 1 abilities.

The volumes of various music and sounds could do with balancing.

I am constantly pressing the volume controls when playing ToME XD

+2 for this idea. The barking infests not one but at least TWO towns!

Seriously, is this a "feature" designed to make us leave towns faster?
It's awful. Make it stop.

Most of the ambient background sounds are too loud in general...
could we have control of that or something?

Yes. It's also used for Gates of Morning. If lowering the volume is done at the time of playback don't forget to lower it there too.

Derth Arena is a little on the raucous side as well, but not as bad as LH/GoM. On the other hand I think it can turn up in farportals where it has more opportunity to get tiresome.

This sound should definitely go. The idea of a dog barking isn't terrible on principle, but that specific dog has a very ear-piercing bark. I've had to turn the volume down to avoid it driving me mad.

There's an addon that affects just the dog bark, or you could use my UI Mod to turn off all ambient sounds (dog bark, hawk screech, etc).

Looks like Darkgod turned the volume down on the screech and the bark in a recent commit.
