ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

The first task Tannen sets you, requires I think 10 map transitions and hence 10 saves (if Save routines), just to attack a very easy boss, and get something you've only just lost.

The levels are World Map, Dungeon 1,2,3,4,3,2,1, World Map, Last Hope.

Can a task be given that requires less transitions, and is slightly more interesting?

I support this, or at least a quick-jump to the bottom of Reknor any time you enter it after going east.

Your numbers are off. You RECALL out. So that's 7, not 10. And I've typically done that before speaking with Tannen, as I hit all the backup guardians in quick sequence.

Even with 7 it is laborious.

You could do the other task instead.

No, you always have to go to the bottom of Reknor to recover the Athame and Diamond. The choice is between giving him the Orb (and going to Telmur) or keeping the Orb (and fighting Draebor in the Fearscape).

Oh that one.

But it wouldn't be a propper RPG without pointlessly long fetch quests.

I guess the best way would be Tannen sending you there directly, like with Urkis

The direct send would help, but also buffing the boss. I've never had a character even slightly challenged by it. It seems underpowered.
