ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Periodically, I clear out my stash in the fortress and transmog a whole bunch of items. However, this is a hassle because I need to do each item separately. It would be nice to have a transmog room in the fortress, where I can dump all the items and then transmog the whole pile with the push of a button.

I think that if you 'u'se the transmog chest, you can transmog items on the floor.

Found that out accidentally.

Now I usually pick up everything I want to transmog,
head to the initial area where you meet the beast,
drop all the junk on the floor and "use" the chest. *Poof!*
I even bound a key to the chest, for easier use

You can transmog this way anywhere. In the fortress or in any dungeon.
And even in the store room...

Wouldn't that be somewhat dangerous?

You only transmog items in the tile you're standing on.

Omega was probably referring to transmog directly in the storage room.
In that area you might end up transmogrify a pile of worthless items along with that unique you wanted to keep.
