I can't tell what these status effects are!

Status effect icons seem to be totally obscured by their countdowns. I've had a lot of trouble parsing what effects I have ever since the change to icons. Unfortunately scaling them with the UI doesn't do me any good - the font scales, too. Larger icons, smaller numbers, or transparent numbers would all be welcome changes.
A minor display note: most numbers (like on talent hotkey icons) have a down-left drop shadow. Looks nice, but it causes the exposed upper-right part of the number to blend into any light colored part of the icon. A full border around the number would improve readability.
