Class/Race Idea: Shape Eater

Yet another idea for a Shapeshifter class. Partly inspired by Housepet's excellent Werebeast mod, and I stole some ideas from it, but with a very different flavour - Shape Eaters use Vim to transform themselves into corrupted shells of natural beings. Their stats are Magic (prereqs, some stats) and Willpower (what stuff actually scales with). The primary difference from ideas like Wyrmic and Werebeast is that the various abilities are instant-use, 10-cooldown sustains, which then enable a variety of talents when you're in that form.

(P.S. Housepet, if you're reading this, feel free to steal whatever you like for Werebeast).

Anyway, what I've sketched out so far:

Class:

1. (locked) Bloodlust

Gain strength from bleeding foes, but with a risk of losing control. Every point in this tree causes you to have a 3% chance of losing control of your character and attacking in a blind frenzy if a bleeding enemy is adjacent to you.

a. Chance of curing status effect if bleeding target is in range (increased while frenzied)

b. Leap to bleeding targets (cooldown decreased while frenzied)

c. Gain life from attacking bleeding opponents (drain life) – increased while frenzied

d. Gain life on shapeshift (timered buff)

2. Slithering Form

a. Permastealth, reduced damage, permanent burrow (as the Wyrmic ability), increased cunning, somewhat increased dex, size category -1, instant cast, change @ to snake

b. Hunt Prey (marks group for x turns, telepathy to marked group)

c. Dazzle Prey (marked group aoe beckoning, lower damage threshold)

d. Daze Prey (marked group aoe daze)

3. Brute Form

a. Increased damage, greatly reduced movement speed, increased strength, somewhat increased dex, some immunities, instant cast, +2 size categories, change @ to bear

b. Rushing claws, increased air capacity

c. Rip Open -  accelerate bleeding damage, +damage against marked prey

d. Swallow dazzled prey, +50% chance if it is also pinned, -75% against elites and bosses

4. Flying Form (locked?)

+1 size categories, change @ to blinkwyrm. The actual talents are the Flight category I was working on for Wyrmic earlier. They are going to be a pain in the neck to code.

5. Binding of Iron 

a. Iron Claws - Like unarmed training, chance to cause bleeding on hit, gain vim from striking a bleeding foe

b. Iron Bones - Increased armour from every item requiring armour training

c. Iron Curse – AoE bleeding, costs health instead of vim

d. Puncture: like epidemic but for bleeding



Generic:



1. Combat Training

2. All humanoid trees, locked (not undead), .8 mastery.

3. Hexes (locked)

4. Binding of Flesh

a. Cannot use infusions, increased damage from damage runes (starts with 1 point, cannot unlearn)

b. Damage runes cooldown decreased

c. Remove rune saturation effect

d. Using a damage rune increases your physical damage penetration for a few turns

You don't appear to have a Vim regaining mechanic in there.

Vim regain on hitting bleeding creatures would fit well.
