Shared Inventory for Alchemists?

Had a thought, wondered if it's possible. Could the alchemist and the golem share inventory space? Basically, they'd both have access to everything the other is carrying, when they go to equip or what-have-you, perhaps so long as they're out of combat (or maybe just beside each other, with appropriate turn delays). A simple "transfer item" command in the inventory would let you swap them item between them, and some kind of little indicator (tiny character tile, perhaps) would show which critter has current possession of any particular item. I guess you'd get two encumbrance displays, as well, one for each critter. I'm not sure if you'd go so far as to include "Equip to <foo>" commands (it'd be troublesome to get comparison working with that, probably.), but maybe.

Trivially doable, or too much coding for too little payment? In between?

Presumably, if this did get implemented, it'd be available for any future persistent pet classes, or potential party mechanics.

Cool.

I spend a lot of time switching control between my PC and my golem when playing alchemists, just to fiddle with inventory.

On the minus side, the alchemist loses the extra carry capacity that moving inventory to the golem allows. Or, the encumbrance limit is added to the PC inventory, but lost temporarily when the golem dies.
