Whielding two-handed weapons in one hand

Probably this suggestion can screw balance but I want to dualwield greatswords while playing a reaver

I propose to allow character to wield two handed weapon in one hand if his strength is much higher than minimal requirement for wielding two handed weapons. (Something Like 2.5 times higher or even more) It will give more weapon choices for melee characters, and more choices = fun

I would think there has to be a dexterity requirement also, or there should be a large penalty to chance to hit and damage.

More choices don't equal more fun. More interesting choices can do, when designed well, but I don't think this applies here. You seem to just want Reavers to have a cool new power. This is at the cost of game balance, interface complexity and general game mechanic complexity.

Also this doesn't offer more choice, it removes choice. If you could dual-wield two-handers why would you bother doing anything else? Choices must be balanced or they are not choices at all.

Trading chance to hit for damage gives you reason to try out twin two handers. And they hit slower also, so you would be doing huge risk/reward if that was an option. I think with some tweaking you could make that balanced

I'm not a fan of anything that screws with attack timing or accuracy. Both mechanics are already too complicated. The only reason I would want this is to expand the number of artifacts available to Reavers (there seem to be a disproportionate number of 2-hand artifacts, but that could be observation bias).

I agree with Grey.

There are more 1-handed artifacts than 2-handed ones (not including randarts).

It might be okay if done for main hand only as a new skill allowed only for one specific class and with severe penalties until you hit skill level 5.

It's not okay as a general thing though.

Ha, indeed there are. Observation bias. :)

I have a couple of ideas for greater glove egos and this is one of them. Basically it would let you one-hand a two-handed weapon or off-hand a sword. It probably would let reavers dual-wield two-handed swords, but at the cost of the glove slot (an ego like that doesn't need to do anything else in my opinion).

The other idea is celerity gloves :P

I had a (somewhat) similar idea for a greater weapon ego. It would be available for daggers, one handed, and two handed weapons.

Sinister (greater weapon prefix):

daggers: use the higher of offhand and main hand weapon damage multiplier (eg. you can get a 150% damage mainhand weapon with good dual weapon training)

One handed: same as above, plus can be wielded in offhand

Two handed: Can be wielded in mainhand, along with something else in the offhand (though it can NOT be a sinister one handed weapon).

This may need some drawbacks (eg. -accuracy, -damage) to be balanced, but I would see it being a good addition to a build that wants to focus on dualwielding, but not dexterity.

First post on here i love the game haven't quite got the master yet but. when i first played i assumed a size increase would allow you to handle a larger weapon, and i think it should.
