Why not let the player say something after the avatar is dead.And the saying should be the epitaph.
Like:
I am too brave to live.
Killed by the same boss twice!I should give up the first time.
I don't see it coming and the monster see me before me.

Epitaphs could become random lore found in the dungeon a player dies in...
