Racial talents scale with class primary stats

Currently racial/class combinations are somewhat restricted by certain racial talents being dependent on certan stats. For example, Thalore may seem to be an interesting race for fighters but the racial talents scaling with Willpower makes this less interesting.

A solution would be that all racial talents scale with primary stats of the chosen class. So, if you are Berserker Thalore, then the racial talents will scale with Strength and Constitution. I think this would make more class/race combinations viable to play.

They could scale with character level, too (suggested somewhere else before). It would function almost identically, and it would also be a little kinder to hybrid classes. Not to mention, it's easier to implement. While level-scaling is almost unheard of in ToME, it makes more sense with racial talents than anything else. The downside is that equipment wouldn't improve racial talents.

Definetely agreeing with making it scale with level even if the final results ends up weaker for some characters right now - for example, we could effectively have the talents use 10 + character level where they now use a stat to calculate the effect.

We could make the TL of the racial talent matter for more than cooldown...so you can get a stronger(or longer lasting) effect if you want to spend some generics.

I don't think it's a very significant downside, really.

I'd definitely like to see it level-based (and have suggested so before). It makes a lot more sense for the racial trees.

I really like the idea of scaling with level. I believe Races can seem locked to certain classes, by their abilities as well. Take the ghoul for instance. I started a ghoul archmage because I thought that some of the racial abilities would be interesting - I could use Gnaw if in close combat trouble, Retch to give me a similar close combat blast effect, and Ghoul gave me extra Con, which is always a good thing. The part that I thought was a bit limiting was Ghoulish leap, which I was hoping to use in place of a targeted phase door. Turns out you literally have to jump AT an enemy, and not elsewhere.
Would love to see it targetable anywhere! This way i can feel 'ghouly' and not have to invest heavily in PD.

The Higher race seems to fit the idea of being as flexible as possible with it's powers. I can't think of a class that's not interested in better regen, better saves, and better visibility.

... ghoulish leap can be freely targeted. I just double-checked in b36. Mouse aim or shift+direction to move the cursor off of enemies.
