Pander's home for ridiculous ideas

From time to time, I come up with some pretty outlandish challenges, builds, classes and races. As often as I feel like it, I'll post those ideas here, as well as any progress on challenges, whip mages, naked brawlers, what have yous.

Of course, anyone else willing to post their hair brained schemes or to register their derision here is welcome.

This post will be edited to fit the contours of the thread.

Naked mages are fun, I must say. As is speed-running (just run straight for the boss in each zone). I'll be happy to hear of other weird challenge ideas you come up with.

Hmm, I wonder how well an empty-handed Arcane Blade would do...

Personally, I'd be interested to hear if it's possible to make a Gloomless Cursed work. Have your first action be unsustaining it, and then never turn it back on again. For additional challenge, don't put any points in unnatural body.

I suppose there are other character classes with similar class-defining skills, but I can't think of any offhand.

Could do a gloveless brawler.

Two-hander rogue.

Summonless Summoner. (haha... no.)

Breathless Wyrmic.

Light-only Anorithil.

Winnable, I'm sure.

I'm working on a minimum-dex yeek rogue. The three primary stats will be cunning, willpower, and either magic or constitution (depending on whether I can get staff combat).

As some already know, I'm playing a vanilla equips and items only character. That means no egos, no artifacts, no useful wands, or boosted inscriptions.

My first attempt is skeleton brawler. Not using the Cloak is a pretty significant burden. I don't get the extra generic points from the arena unlock, my entrance to Mage Town is blocked, anti-magic is similarly blocked, and stores are off limits (only useful for vanilla inscriptions, but every little bit helps. I believe I'll have to make a few main quest line exceptions for the orb of many ways (traveling East and getting into and out of the race).

Of course, I have yet to find a vanilla belt, the inspiration for this challenge. I'll figure out how to link characters from the vault, but for now, look up Vanna White if you're curious as to my progress.

I suspect this run will end at the Master, as I can only get to 60% stun/freeze and one method of status removal.

---

Completely different idea: Ogg the dumbest Magician: never boost magic, willpower or cunning through stat point allocations. All other means of trickery to gain skills and meet equip requirements will be acceptable.

---

Race/Class idea: Sher'Tul Janitor (only class available for Sher'Tuls): starts with a Tmog chest. Race cannot equip items or use inscriptions. Instead, each time an item is thrown into the chest, it will grant the janitor those boosted stats or abilities for blah number of turns. For the sake of balance, I suppose, if a weapon is thrown in, the next weapon thrown in will knock out the previous abilities. The energy generated from the Tmog will also be measured in a gauge to the left and used to activate class techniques.

I have a naked Brawler that is past Norgos. Can't remember if it was you or Luke that egged me into doing that one.

Is it possible to do a Golem-only Alchemist? I know that if the Alchemist dies, you can continue to play the Golem -- are there things the game won't let you do as a Golem that will prevent you from finishing the game like this? (In theory, at least.)

Well, changing levels would be your first problem ;)

You could do a golem-less alchemist.

A lot of people do that anyway. Without the Golemancy talents, the Golem is really kinda weak.

The only real problem with that is that I think you'd run out of stuff to put points into eventually.

Staff-less alchemists (or bombless alchemist) are much harder than golem-less ones.

Archmage with no points in a certain skill trees can be interesting - no points in fire/manathrust or invis trees at all.

Another weird equipment one - dagger-less rogues.

Doomed with no use of feed - is that even possible?

You still get Hate from killing monsters, whether by talent, or by weapon attack, or by letting them bump into your retaliation damage, or by letting your shadows do it.
