Shadowblade / Shadow Magic suggestions

Shadow Combat has a couple of harsh decisions that seem inconsistent with other similar talents:
1. As you put more points in it its mana cost actually increases. Almost no other spell or effect in T4 has an increasing cost as power goes up; and shadowblades in particular have mana problems at low levels. There are quite a few other 'damage-on-hit' talents in other classes (Ruin, Temporal Folding, Arcane Combat, etc.) and none of those have increasing resource costs. In fact, some of them don't have a resource cost at all!
2. Shadow Combat doesn't scale off spell power, which is a strange lack of synergy with Shadow Cunning in the same tree.
