Am I detected?

Hello!

It would be nice if there was a way to check if one enemy can see you if you are sneaking or invisible.
Either in game display (some colour or mark) of the opponent that sees you, or by hoovering the mouse pointer over the enemy.

The actors target is displayed on the tooltip. If it's not targeting you it doesn't detect you.

In addition to the info being made available in the tooltip, how would you like a yellow tactical border around hostile enemies that can't see you?

It was something like that I was after.
Not sure if the tactical border should indicate he sees or not sees.

Actually tiger_eye pointed out in IRC that they might be able to target you even if you're not detected. So... if you're playing a stealth rogue Tom maybe you could watch the target tooltip and report back?

Without doubt this is true.
I found a rattlesnake house in Troll mire.
I open the door but Im standing to the right and not straight in front of it.
When the door opens I see one snake.
He has not target me.
I press '5' and all snakes in the house give text the see me, which is odd as Im in sight only for one snake.
I move to the right and some snakes follow me out.
I round the corner and find a good spot to fight them one-on-one.
After three or four are dead I go back to the door.
Two snakes are outside and moving irregularly.
They clearly can not see me.
But when I check, they have me targetted.

Im only 1/5 in Stealth.

Enemies pass target info to other nearby enemies, so if one sees you, then all will probably target you and move to where you were last seen. Blame yufra for all "unfair" AI tactics

The tactical border would be red (as it is now) if an enemy can see you, and yellow (proposed) if it can't see you. Would certainly help with messages like "White worm mass sees you!"--but which white worm mass?!

I do not deserve such high praise! :D IIRC target passing was all DG. In regards to the OP, there needs to be some distinction between "detected" and "targeted." Targeted means that the NPC is focusing on you, whereas detected means that the NPC knows where you are. You can be targeted but not detected, as in the case of a stealthed rogue. Detection is checked every round, and the NPC can "lose" detection of you and think you are somewhere else. This is why you can see NPC spellcasters throwing spells randomly about, causing absolute havoc... they think they are hitting you. There currently is no feedback on where a NPC thinks you are, and I am not sure how that would actually work. A yellow border doesn't mean the NPC won't attack, just that it has a chance of thinking you are somewhere you are not. It might be interesting to have mouse-overs of NPCs highlight their target on the map, which could then show you where turn-to-turn a NPC thinks you are.

I think I must *bump* this thread yet again.

Im in a farportal.
The map is like a Dreadfell map.
In a corridor the following happens.

Something has seen you!
Bandit used Highborn's Bloom.
Bandit deactivates stealth.
Ran for 9 turns(stop reason:hostile spotted(bandit)).
Tom performs critical strike!
Tom performs critical strike!
Tom killed bandit!

I assume that when the bandit saw me, he did one thing immidiately.
Highborn and that deactivated his stealth.

Then I just waited, pressing '5' a few times until he came close.
Then I attacked, and got in 2 critical strikes.

Right before I attacked him I checked by mousehoovering over him and no text indicated he had med targetted.

Did he see me? (This info is important as if he doesn't see me my attackes are automatically critical doing 286% damage with 2 knives)
Or did he just run towards where he once saw me?
It is quite common one spots a rogue and then he disappears in stealth until the attack comes.

I really wish there was a way to understand if he does see me or not.

Thanks for bumping this- I have been confused about this as well. What does the "XX has seen you" text mean, then? Detection or Targeting?
