Anything sold to a store should be removed from the game forever. They should not appear again in other dungeons, multiple times, sometimes on different continents.

On the other hand items for sale from a store should not disappear, since that's a little unfair.

I disagree. Fluffy the barbarian sells his Noodle of Smackdown to a store. SirChopsalot buys it, then goes and gets himself killed. Fluffy may just find the same Noodle of Smackdown in his adventures. I would argue that selling an item to a store exactly puts it BACK into the "economy". Artifacts should not be duplicated only when they are actively in-game already: either generated elsewhere on the ground, in the "house", or in the player's inventory.

How does SirChopsalot go and get to the east before you then? :P It mostly seems silly to me to find the same junk over and over again. If you sell an artifact to a shop then you obviously don't want it, so it should be removed from the game. Or perhaps the rarity on it just needs to be made much much higher.

Who says that artifacts have to be unique. If the person that created it created one, why could he have not made more of the same item? He already has the formula to make that artifact.

I don't think Grey was trying to make an argument about the realism of the situation. Clearly it's reasonable for sold items to show up again. However, it doesn't make for fun gameplay, and fun gameplay should be the first consideration.

Because it's an ARTIFACT - you know, something UNIQUE - if it's not, then it's just any old thing.

Think of stuff like ... The Cup of Christ - there's trillions of cups, and hundreds of thousands in the same vein as the one He supposedly used, clay or wooden, small and semi decent craftsmanship - but there is only ONE cup that is considered His [aka the one at the Last Supper] - THAT makes it an artifact.
