Maybe these could either increase negative or positive energy respectively or increase darkness and light damage by 5 or 10%

Increasing negative/positive energy feels a bit TOO specific to it(as it's supposed to be a generic purpose artifact, and only Anorithils use that), while I think a +10% bonus to the appropriate damage type would be more useful, as long as you happen to have any source of light/darkness damage.

Another idea: Resists? Summertide would give +10% vs darkness, wintertide vs summertide - they'd protect against the opposite element.

+1 to the suggestion about light/dark resistance (I was about to make a post on that myself!).

First, this seems more flavor than anything else. As such, I wouldn't want to buff them too much. I'd suggest a +5% to light and fire damage for the summertide, and a +5% to dark and cold damage for the wintertide. If you want resist effect, have the summertide increase max dark resist by 5% and wintertide increase max light resist by 5% with no change to actual resist numbers.

In particular, I wouldn't want these changes to make the phials significantly better than other available artifact lights except for special-case characters. Artifact lights in general just aren't that impressive.

I actually made a typo in that post , which I edited - I meant Summertide would give +DARK resist and Wintertide +LIGHT - they boost your own light/darkness while weakening your opponent's.

As for artifact light sources not being impressive - we can buff the phials AND make the other light sources more interesting if needed.
