New setting (no spoilers)

So, I know there's a thread discussing a new setting, but I haven't been reading it because I want it to remain a surprise.
But I still like to contribute ideas when I have them.
Any chance of a low-spoiler description for people who want to provide NPC/artifact ideas without any plot information?
e.g. "The player starts in a land dominated by a human kingdom, with small small dwarven and elven realms. The land is largely at peace, though some areas remain dangerous, haunted either by undead, trolls, or dragons. Wolves and bandits may also be found. Later the player will travel to a new land, where human sun-paladins strive with prides of orcs."

really you could just post ideas and they could be converted as needed, but yes, it still will have the same setting basically, though a different world.

The "known world" is composed of a continent called Maj'Eyal. The current main power is an alliance/merge of the 3 old human kingdoms and the 2 halfling ones. (the halflings are not like hobbits they did and do take part in the world events, they are one of the greatest armies actually).
The dwaves are a very secretive people that lives mostly in one place, at least the surfacers think, and usualy retreat there when there is trouble on the surface. Since the lands have been at peace for a hundred years they have started trade relationship with the kingdoms alliance.
The two remaining elven races both managed to keep their ancient domains. One of them being close to nature lives in a forest to the north, and much like the dwarves they try to avoid being involved in events. The others have close bounds to magic but are trying to get away from it, or at least hide it, since the most destructive event of all history was created by their own mages when trying to repel an invasion.
As such mages are not very welcome, they are no more downright hunted but they dont get much friendly welcome either.
The far east is mostly unchanged

Concerning Halflings
Maybe Crossbows should replace Slings. Slings are a hobbit thing and really not a great weapon for a soldier (terrible range, inability to pierce platemail, etc.)
Crossbows would still work off Dex and Cunning so aside from a few minor adjustments and a couple of talent changes it shouldn't be to hard of a switch.

Crossbows are definitely a neat idea - finding stacks of dwarven-steel quarrels seems a lot more natural than piles of shots.
So are we getting a third human race?
