I suggest there be an achievement for viciously backstabbing 5 escort NPCs in one game. That way we can all enjoy escort quests a little bit more...

heheh i like it, especially when you know an escort quest is gonna fail. Like in the Trollshaws the other day, I had an escort quest on level 5. As soon as I stepped into the open, there was Bill, plus 1 stone troll and two forest trolls.
Had to tell that repented seer - "Dude, you're gonna die"

Hmm, that gives me an idea - evil backstabbing escorts. Would work well with supposedly repented thieves. As soon as they reach the portal they disappear with a chunk of your gold. Or they lead you straight to an ambush of bandits (and if you beat them you get their stash). Dirty Alchemists could lead you to their golem in an attempt to harvest your organs, and dark anorithils could lure you to their sacrificial altars. Would make escort quests much more interesting

I like this idea a lot for higher level zones. For beginning zones, the escort quest already can be a distraction from staying alive. Like vaults, I just can't resist going for it even if the character is too underpowered.
