ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hi guys,

I think Tome 4 has a lot of potential. I used to love playing an Alchemist in tome 2.3.5 and I'm quite keen to help out wherever I can with the development of Tome 4. I'm not very good at LUA, but my mum is an English teacher so I'd be quite happy to help with writing / proofreading dialogue and in-game text.

One thing that I noticed from the source is that text is pretty much hard-coded at the moment. How easy would it be to move text strings to some sort of message catalogue? That way they could be easily updated and also be translated if somebody was keen

I am moving this to ideas for a more thorough discussion.

How much work would be entailed in doing something like this?

Is it a module specific thing or would it be a general standard?

It would be a generic feature I think but I am not such a huge fan of this idea, I know the merit of such things for translation but it makes things really really unreadable :/
