ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hello,
I just bought all the DLC for Tome, but when I launch the Orc campaign every class group is locked except for Warrior and the new Steam classes from the DLC. I have over 200 hours in Tome and had every class and race unlocked before buying the DLC. Do I need to re-unlock all the classes for the Orc campaign, or are most of them simply not playable in that campaign?

They're not playable. You can use the steam classes in the main campaign, but not the main classes in the orc campaign.

I've never tried playing the steam classes in the main campaign, but I get the impression that they wouldn't work as well. The orc campaign is complimentary to the steam classes in a way that the main campaign is not.

…? My Yeti Archmage and Whitehoof Rogue characters would be surprised to hear that.

There's information about how to unlock various things on the ToME Wiki (full-spoily version and less spoily version). Short version: completing a certain Embers zone will unlock some main-campaign classes in Embers, completing it again with another character will unlock some more, and completing it a third time will unlock all of them.

You can't play the Steam Races on the Main campaign nor the Main Races on the Steam campaign.
But as Zizzo mentioned above, you can unlock the Steam Classes to be playable on the Main campaign, and reversively you can also unlock the Main Classes on the Steam campaign.
