Is there a way to avoid the Trapped! event?

I know it won't happen if your level is low, but what if your level is high and you want to hold off on that quest for a while? Can you restrict yourself to certain parts of the map or something like that, to avoid it? Or is it just purely random as long as you're walking around outside and your level is high enough?

Looks like mannendake has a
Godfeaster on the Map addon for that one.

Trapped! procs only "off the beaten path". That is to say, it won't proc if you're on the main road, only in the nooks of the forests/moutains, in the north snow etc.
Godfeaster procs anywhere (on the west continent) so no avoiding that unless you're below 30 or lucky.

Um.. just a thought.. could you avoid the Godfeaster proc by
disabling the Forbidden Cults DLC?
Might be the only way to avoid it without using any mod/addon/whathaveyou..

Well it's added by the Cults DLC so sure, but I don't know what that would accomplish as you can just as well decline the event when it happens ("Use the rod" option)
