ToME: the Tales of Maj'Eyal

Hey, I've installed ToME on a tablet running Win10 Enterprise, 2016 LTSB. Installed with GOG installer, no issue.

However... clicking on things either with the touchscreen or a bluetooth mouse, has a bizarre effect. For example, clicking on the 'gear' icon for main menu, seems to do nothing - until you switch to any other program and back. Then the correct effect of the click is displayed. Menu selections, clicking on the map, character, etc, all the same.

This does not happen with Torchlight or HOMM3, also installed through GOG. Those work normally. So, the display and HID devices don't seem to be at fault. It only happens with ToME.

What I'm after, is how to troubleshoot this. Is there something in developer tools, options, etc, that will let me find out if it's an input or display issue?

I called the manufacturer, Minno, and they have no information on it. Couldn't even tell me what battery was in it.

Are you running any software that monitors/intercepts mouse actions (this can include macro software like AutoHotKey, Windows Terminal, touchpad and mouse drivers). If so, try disabling these (in the case of drivers which have to be present for the hardware to work, set them to as "default" a setup as you can).

Some security software can also affect programs' ability to receive mouse/keyboard information (anti-keyloggers, screenshot blockers, etc) so if you use one of these, check that it is whitelisting t-engine.exe.

If you have a Bluetooth keyboard, is that affected in a similar fashion?

Another thing to try is running TOME as Administrator - for security's sake, disconnect from the Internet while doing this (or at least ensure you have an effective firewall installed and configured first).
