Undead Starting Zone on Insane...

Is pure luck. While this isn't uncommon for insane to be based off luck (see drowning), slogging through two levels of a zone only to get shafted by the bone giant spawning next to the stairs you come down is far more tedious than using Mex's last hope start in conjunction with the quick drown addon.
Other issues are that the bone giant has around 30+ Dex and on top of that a bone shield for around 450ish, meaning it's impossible for ghoul to kill the boss with a melee class on diffulcties above normal, since you can neither run or fight.
Moral of the story, either nerf the bone giant, fix drowning and make it not necessary to start insane or make the bone giant have a reduced sight radius and only spawn on the stairs up. One of these is far more preferable to the others but also far more difficult.

Undead are intended to be a challenging race.
Insane is not the difficulty this game was designed for, i'm afraid, so your balance concerns will be ignored.

The undead races are hard to unlock and so they are a challenge race. The forced starting zone makes sense in lore and I don't want it to be changed because it would be against the lore and that would be very bad.
It's also why archmage is better than alchemist and why everything is better than bulwark: if you start with it it's probably easy to play but low skill ceiling whereas archmage is very high skill ceiling so harder to unlock (1 million fire damage can take a long time as well).

Shalore racials and Anorithil escorts begin unlocked despite their high skill ceiling. Perhaps this should be changed.

It makes sense lore wise to start with shalore because you can go to their town.

Moral of the story is you should play or nightmare. Guy responsible for recent nerf to undead starting area did a great job. Right now dungeon is around trollmire / kor'pul difficulty level and it is definitely easier than other tier 1 zones.

I did a few runs on the old rogue in 1.4.9 and had 0 issues w/ the giant, you could say he's really weak even, I'd even go so far as to say that it's way easier than the other starting zones, so maybe you need to approach it differently.

Those mean nothing as far as I'm concerned, particularly when there's thousands of them and nobody will ever get all of them legitimately. I just think shesh's strong opinions on AB are rather groundless (pun intended).
