Valley of the Moon quest a lot easier than intended I think

I've done the valley of the moon quest a few times, and noticed despite there being 3 demon summoning portals, if you hang out at the intersection to the southwest of them, you only have to fight a stream of demons near one of them, as the other two, in order to leave the portal and get to you or limner, they would have to go around a corner, which the pathfinding AI can't do, so the first thing summoned just sits there unless you go in and get on the other side of the portals, and while that demon is there it can't summon anything new.

"have to go around a corner, which the pathfinding AI can't do, "
i believe that is called a bug.

otherwise, i don't think the quest would be even possible, if they came from anywhere else.

you alone survive it? sure that's not hard. the hard part, is keeping the npc, once the demons notice him.
if you want to defend him from two different streams, you would have intercept BOTH of them, mid way, and that would require impossible mobility.

if they were coming at, lets say, 90* angle, then perhaps TW (stupidly fast) could manage it. put them exactly opposite, and now its completely impossible.

add a third stream, don't even bother.

higher difficulty? why does this quest even exist?

On normal some of my characters probably could have managed it with area effect attacks by hanging out at the crossroads. As is, the biggest danger is you might not notice a fire imp phase dooring past where you can see and getting to limnir.

I've always hated this quest. It's very broken, and most games I only have to deal with demons coming from one portal; the other two portals back up and the monsters never actually move.

But on the other hand, I hate the fact that it would be impossible if the monsters flowed smoothly. Some of them are pretty tough to kill, and you'd get swamped pretty quickly.

Overall a poor addition to the game.

Lolwut? An amulet with two of Windborne Azurite, Goedelath Rock, Wrathroot's Barkwood, and Lifebinding Emerald will usually be better than non-merchant randarts.

Too bad completing the quest actually doesn't give you any of the gems you mention nor the white voratun amulet. Also there is always the delicious saves gem that the merchant likes to troll you with. You can get something nice if you get lucky with drops and the random roll, my best one so far was 28 % all damage 9 % all crit amulet with 50 % heal mod but on average I've found the reward itself pretty mediocre.

Shame you aren't guarenteed any of those except lifebinding emerald (i'd rather have invuln potion to autowin final fight) and the white amulet which requires killing ata haha

e: randart amulets are really good

I made an amulet with the rock and azurite, the bonus gem it gave me was the 60% stun resistance one.

I've had a few times where they all got stuck around the portals, but mostly they all get out and head over. I found it pretty easy to deal with on normal and nightmare, especially with ranged classes.

The reward is decent even with regular tier 5 gems if you haven't found a good amulet by that point.

I saw someone say in the in-game chat recently they made an amulet with this quest, and actually got the goedalath rock as the bonus gem.
