Armor bugged?

Ok I didn't put this in the bug forum because it's probably not a bug and I'm just missing something, but I'm currently in Dreadfell fighting Borfast, and thanks to Shield Wall he has a ton of armor, so I'm using a crystalline dagger to do Arcane damage to him, against which he has no resistance at all when checking his character sheet. The thing is, the damage from the dagger is still way underwhelming compared to what it does to other 0% resist mobs. He does have Thick Skin 5, so actually he has 15% resist, but the damage is so low that it cannot be the culprit. I'm afraid his armor is somehow reducing the arcane damage? What's wrong?

Pretty sure all weapon damage gets affected by armor, no matter the element, wouldn't make sense otherwise

Wow, I've been playing this game for years and never knew that. How dumb am I?
Anyway, I killed him by having him run out of stamina, the bastard...

Exactly, I always thought armor was underwhelming because of that

Armor acts as a direct reduction to the attacker "weapon damage" stat, before the talent % multiplier happens. It has indeed nothing to do with elements.
It's also why armor has 0 effects against the Daikara giant boulders. Sure it's physical damage, but it's not a weapon based attack. It does fixed damage instead.

as mentioned, all base damage of a weapon, is affected by the armour, no matter the type.
however, nothing else is.
so if a weapon says "it deals +xx of yy on hit/crit", this extra bit of damage will not be affected by the armour in the slightest.
it counts as proc damage.
so if you were to hit him with the spellblaze shard (not sure if it was, could be the fused one) you would still hit him for like 40 to 60 damage (don't remember exact) just from procs, every hit.
